In addition, continued as Professor in the Section of Molecular Medicine Faculty of Medicine at Imperial College London. His main lines of research include topics basic cell and molecular biology as trafficking the membrane and the cellular and molecular mechanisms in diseases caused by dysfunction of these processes. More recently has been interested by introducing new technologies in treatment and has conducted studies gene therapy. It has about 100 articles published and considered one of the most cited researchers Portuguese in the area of biomedical research.
