Handsome Deville visits SXSW One of the things Im working on today for next weeks Sun-Sailor is a story about a band called Handsome Deville. The band lives together in a house in St. Louis Park near Lenox Community Center and recently returned from the South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas. The band played seven gigs during the trip, including two shows in Austin. They also scored a couple of radio interviews and are getting airplay on college radio with their pop-punk single Chaos by Committee. The bands antics include a friend dancing in a penguin costume at all their shows. On their myspace site, the band lays out their mission: Handsome Deville is a band founded on the notion that music needs to be fun again. Too many bands take themselves way too seriously. Deville's mission is to destroy them, leaving a trail of broken bodies and guitars in their wake. Strong words. However, the page continued, But these fellows don't intend to offend, they simply invite people to relax and stop being so uptight about every little thing! They strive to be a band that not only plays rockin' tunes, but presents a stage show that is both appealing to the eye and interactive for the crowd. Expect these gents to come through in the clutch when it comes to throwin' down the rock.
