California Poppies in the Antelope Valley, CA, April 2012 V11466 Video Clips. Duration : 5.87 Mins.We had a good read. For the benefit of yourself. Be sure to read to the end. I want you to get good knowledge from Southwestern Eye Center . While it wasn't a banner year, there were still some nice thick patches of these amazingly bright orange flowers to be found in California's southwestern Mojave Desert, not far from the California Poppy Reserve Vistor's Center. In some years, these flowers carpet the desert floor as far as the eye can see, prompting some viewers to reach for their sunglasses (seriously, they can be that intense!). In other years, presumably those with lower rainfall, they can be sparse and patchy, but with persistent searching one can usually locate a good field or two. The mid-day winds were a bit strong and made filming a challenge, but they also helped to keep temperatures down as well... All-in-all a good day for seeing these desert wonders.. The California Poppy (Eschscholzia californica) is California's official state flower, but can be found in parts of the southwestern United States. These clips were filmed with a tripod-mounted Canon 5D Mk2 in full 1080p HD, then downscaled down for this 720p upload. Video rendering done in Sony Vegas.
